Why a Sky Exchange password reset is a chat, not a button
There's no self-service reset link because the platform doesn't email you and there is no account page on this site. Your ID was created by the Sky Exchange team and linked to your mobile number when you first messaged us. That link is what proves you're you. So when the password is lost, the same team that made the ID sets a fresh one, after checking the number you're writing from matches the one on record.
It sounds slower than a button. In practice it's a short exchange, and it means nobody can reset your password by guessing your email.
Before you ask for a reset
Two quick checks save you a round trip.
First, make sure it is really the password. A mistyped ID gives the same error message as a wrong password, and a browser holding an old session can refuse a correct one. Retype both fields by hand once, and try a private window. The login problems guide covers this in more depth if you want it.
Second, make sure you're messaging from the right WhatsApp. The number listed on Official Channels is the only one that can reset anything. A chat with any other number is a chat with someone who cannot help you and may want your details.
The reset, step by step
- Open WhatsApp on the phone that holds your registered number. This is the number you first messaged the desk from when the ID was issued. The team checks it against the record before doing anything else.
- Send your Sky Exchange ID and the words "password reset". Nothing more is needed to start. Do not send your old password, a screenshot of a saved password, or any code you have received by SMS.
- Answer the identity question if asked. Sometimes the team asks a plain question about the account, such as roughly when you took the ID or which device you normally use. This is to catch someone using a borrowed phone. Answer honestly; a wrong answer is not the end, it just means more checking.
- Wait for the team to confirm the reset is done. The reply comes from the same number you messaged. The desk tells you in the chat exactly how to log in with the fresh credentials. Follow those instructions, not ones from any other chat.
- Log in on the platform and change the password straight away. Use the change-password option inside your account. Pick something you have never used for the platform before and that isn't your phone number or your ID with a digit on the end.
- Log out of every other device. The old password is dead, but any open session should be closed too. Then log in once on the device you actually use.
- Reply in the chat that you're in. It closes the request on our side and tells us the reset worked. If it didn't, say so in the same thread rather than starting a new one.
What the desk will and will not do during a reset
- We will check your mobile number against the ID, reset from our side, and confirm the result in the same WhatsApp chat.
- We will not ask for your current or old password, an OTP, a UPI PIN, or a card number. Not once, not for verification, not for anything.
- We will not reset an ID for a number that does not match the record, however convincing the story. That protects you when someone else is telling the story.
If a chat claiming to be Sky Exchange breaks any of these, close it and read Official Channels.
Choosing a password that survives
Most reset requests we handle are repeat customers. The password was written in a notes app that got wiped, or saved in a browser on a phone that got replaced. A little structure prevents the next one.
| Habit | Why it helps |
|---|---|
| Use a phrase, not a word | Three unrelated words with a number between them are easier to recall than a random string and much harder to guess. |
| Never reuse your UPI PIN or phone number | Those are the first things anyone who has seen your phone will try. |
| Store it in a proper password manager | It syncs to your next phone. A notes app or a WhatsApp message to yourself does not, and is readable by anyone holding the device. |
| Change it after a shared device | Cyber cafe, a friend's laptop, a phone you lent out. Assume the password was seen. |
| Keep the ID and the password apart | If one leaks, the other still protects you. |
Password reset and the app
If you use the Android APK, the reset works exactly the same way; the app is only a wrapper around the platform login. After the reset, the app will reject the saved old password and ask for the new one. Type it in, and if the app offers to remember it, only accept on a phone that has a screen lock. The current APK version is 1.9.5, and it is shared only in the WhatsApp chat. If the app version you have is older, ask the desk for the current build while you're already chatting; the Sky Exchange app page explains the install.
On iPhone you log in through Safari, so a reset there is just a matter of clearing the saved password in Settings and entering the new one.
When a reset is not enough
A password reset assumes the mobile number on record is still yours. If that number is lost, ported, or was never yours to begin with, the desk cannot verify you through a reset, and pushing harder in the chat won't change that. Move to the Sky Exchange account recovery guide, which is built for exactly that case.
The same applies if you suspect someone else has already been inside the account. A new password stops them going forward, but the desk should also look at the ID. Say so in the chat, and if you need to escalate, the support page explains how to reach us by email.
